What can we use the cabin for?

Whatever you like is the answer, but a lot of our customers use the cabins as - Home Office, Games Room, Garden Room/Summerhouse, Outside Dining Room, Home Gym, Hot tub/Sauna Room, Art Studio, Photographic Studio, Workshops, Additional living space & Garages

Do I need planning permission?

Under new regulations that came into effect on 1st October 2008, our cabins do not require planning permission. The following points are a brief summary of the regulations. However if you have any queries about this please contact us or your local authority.

Outbuildings and garages to be single storey with maximum eaves height of 2.5m and maximum overall height of 4m.

Maximum height of 2.5 metres within 2 metres of a boundary.

No more than half the area of land around the "original house" would be covered by additions or other buildings.

What thickness of wood should my cabin have?

The main usage may affect the thickness of the wood required and possibly the need for additional roof and/or floor insulation. The cabins are designed and build in the thickness most suited the specific design. Our range includes 28mm, 45mm and 70mm logs.

What base should the cabin sit on?

The correct base and ground preparation is essential to the cabins erection and life span. A level concrete base is ideal, however concrete blocks can be an alternative.

Do I need to treat my cabin?

Yes, the best treatment for the cabin will ensure it lasts as long as you expect. Cheap and/or inferior products can be detrimental to the cabin in the long term. The cabins are not pre-treated and will require treatment within the first two weeks of erection. We can supply Sikkens Novatech to treat your cabin.

Can I insulate my cabin?

Yes, insulation is available for your cabin, due to the density of the wood used, the walls do not need insulating, however we can offer you insulation for the roof and floor. If you are thinking of using the cabin day in day out throughout the year we strongly recommend this.

Can I have double glazing?

Yes, our double glazing units are the best on the market! Built to full European building standards, your double glazed doors and windows will be the same standard as you would expect to find in your home.

Can I customise my cabin?

Yes, additional doors and windows can be added to the cabins, but will need to be cut in during the build process. A terrace option is also available. (Not available for corner units)
